Give Thanks

DRS and I were lucky enough to have family come visit us for Thanksgiving this past year.  I thought it would be nice to have our house looks somewhat festive for the holiday.  But since I didn't have any Thanksgiving decorations, I did some searching on Pinterest for a fun DIY idea.  This is what I came up with:

All it took was some heavy card stock, twine, stencils and paint.

What a great reminder of what Thanksgiving is really about!

Super Bass

I tend to catch either Giada on The Food Network or The Ellen Show while at the gym.  During a recent after work work-out, I came across these two adorable girls that were guests on The Ellen Show.  Sophia Grace and her cousin Rosie  are from England and love to sing!  They were brought on the show after Ellen saw their rendition of Nicki Minaj's 'Super Bass'.  Not only did I laugh out loud at the gym while watching their appearance, but I came home and made DRS immediately watch it too.  I thought the video was worth passing on.  I hope it puts a smile on your face as it did mine!  Happy Monday!

The babies are the size of avocados this week!  Wow!

Happily Ever After

Earlier this year I came across this print on Pinterest.  You can find it here on Etsy to purchase.  I thought it would be a beautiful piece of artwork for our bedroom.  I also thought it would be the perfect backdrop for our babies bump photos!  It provides me a daily reminder of how lucky and blessed I am in my life.   What is your happily ever after?

The Sarah P. Duke Gardens

In the early 1930s, Dr. Frederick M. Hanes, a Duke Medical School faculty member, first came up with the idea of a garden.  He persuaded his friend, Sarah P. Duke to give a gift of money to finance the garden.  She was the widow of one of the university's founders.  By 1935, there were more than 100 flower beds in bloom.  Unfortunately by the time Sarah P. Duke died in 1936, the original gardens had been destroyed.  Dr. Hanes did not want to give up though.  He convinced her daughter, Mary Duke Biddle, to build a new garden as a memorial to her mother.  The gardens now occupy 55 acres in the middle of Duke's West campus and is recognized as one of the leading gardens in the United States.

DRS and I have visited the gardens many times since our move.  It is a beautiful and peaceful getaway.  Each season brings a new beauty to the gardens.  We have enjoyed taking some of our family to experience the gardens with us while visiting.

Babies Bump

Each week DRS has been taking a picture of my babies bump for me.  These are the ones we have taken to date.  I plan on posting the current one each week.  

I decided to wear the same shirt for each picture to better see the change each week.  I am crossing my fingers that I chose the correct shirt!

My wish...

My wish for this blog is simple.  During this very exciting time in my life, I would like to keep my family and friends as up to date as possible.  I want them to feel that even though there are many miles between us, we can stay just as connected as if I was living down the street.

And so was born, Candy Corn Dreams.
